A work-related injury needs proper assessment and structured rehabilitation, not just pain management until the claim is settled.
At Far North Physiotherapy, we accept WorkCover Queensland claims and work with injured workers, employers, and insurers to deliver goal-directed physiotherapy focused on returning you to work safely and as quickly as your recovery allows.
Far North Physiotherapy is a registered WorkCover Queensland physiotherapy provider. You do not need to pay out of pocket for your treatment. Once your claim is accepted, your sessions are billed directly to WorkCover.
To get started, you’ll need a referral from your GP or treating doctor. If your claim is still being processed, contact us and we can advise on how to proceed.
The WorkCover Queensland process can feel confusing if you’ve not been through it before. Here’s how it works:
01
Report your workplace injury to your employer as soon as possible. Your employer is required to lodge a claim with WorkCover Queensland on your behalf, or you can lodge directly with WorkCover.
02
Visit your GP to have your injury assessed and to receive a WorkCover medical certificate. Your GP will recommend a treatment plan and can refer you to physiotherapy.
03
Contact Far North Physiotherapy with your WorkCover claim number and GP referral. We’ll handle the billing directly with WorkCover so you can focus on your recovery.
04
We provide regular progress reports to WorkCover and your treating doctor. Our goal is to restore your function and facilitate a safe, sustainable return to work.
Work-related injuries vary widely depending on the industry and the nature of the job. Common presentations we see from Cairns workers include:
Regardless of the industry, our approach is the same: thorough assessment, accurate diagnosis, structured rehabilitation, and a clear return-to-work plan.
Getting you back to work safely is the central goal of WorkCover physio. We work collaboratively with you, your employer, and your insurer to develop a return-to-work plan that matches your recovery progress.
Depending on your role and your injury, return to work may involve a graduated program starting with lighter duties before returning to your full pre-injury role. We provide progress reports, functional assessments, and clear recommendations at each stage of the process.
For employers and WorkCover case managers, we are experienced in providing timely reporting and working within the WorkCover Queensland framework.
01
A thorough assessment of the injury, your functional capacity, and the physical demands of your job. You’ll leave your first appointment with a clear diagnosis and a treatment and return-to-work plan.
02
Treatment tailored to your injury, including manual therapy, soft tissue work, dry needling, taping, and exercise rehabilitation.
03
We explain what’s going on, what the treatment involves, and what the return-to-work timeline looks like. We keep your employer and insurer informed through regular reporting.
04
Progressive rehabilitation toward full function, with a structured return-to-work program matched to your recovery and your role’s demands.
