Whether you’re too far away, can’t drive, recovering from surgery, or just need advice without the round trip, telehealth physio gives you access to clinical expertise without leaving home.
At Far North Physiotherapy, online consultations are available for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions and are covered by most private health funds.
Telehealth isn’t a second-best option for everyone — for the right situations, it’s genuinely the most practical choice. It works well for:
If you’re unsure whether telehealth is right for your situation, call us and we’ll see what’s best for you. Some conditions genuinely need hands-on assessment first. Others can be managed entirely online.
Telehealth works well for conditions that respond to exercise, movement guidance, and education rather than requiring direct manual therapy. Common presentations we see online include:
For new or acute injuries, we recommend an in-person assessment first where possible. Telehealth is best used as part of a treatment pathway, not always as the starting point.
01
Book online or call the clinic. Let us know you’d like a telehealth appointment and we’ll set it up. You’ll receive a link to join the video call before your session.
02
All you need is a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone. No special software to download. We use a simple, secure video platform that works in your browser.
03
Your physio will take a history, assess your movement and function through the screen, and give you a clear explanation of what’s going on. For follow-up sessions, we review your progress and adjust your program.
04
You’ll leave the session with a clear exercise program, any relevant advice, and a plan for what comes next. Programs can be sent digitally so you have everything you need at home.
Most major Australian private health funds now cover telehealth physiotherapy consultations under physiotherapy extras, including Bupa, Medibank, HCF, NIB, and others. The rebate amount depends on your specific policy and level of cover.
We recommend checking with your fund before your appointment. When you book, let us know you’ll be claiming a rebate and we’ll ensure everything is set up correctly.
NDIS participants may be eligible to access physiotherapy via telehealth under their plan, depending on their funding category and goals.
If you’re an NDIS participant or support coordinator looking to arrange telehealth physio, contact us and we’ll work through the details with you.

Medicare does not currently cover standard telehealth physiotherapy consultations in the same way it covers GP visits. However, patients referred under a GP Management Plan (chronic condition management) may be eligible for Medicare-rebated physiotherapy sessions, including telehealth in some circumstances. Contact us or your GP for guidance on your specific situation.
A device with a camera and microphone, a smartphone, tablet, or laptop all work fine. A stable internet connection. Enough space to move around if your physio asks you to demonstrate a movement or exercise. Comfortable clothing is helpful. That’s it.
For many presentations, yes. Movement assessment, postural analysis, exercise technique review, and detailed history-taking can all be done effectively via video. There are some things that genuinely require hands-on assessment, joint palpation, passive range of motion testing, and certain nerve tests, for example. If your physio determines that you need an in-person appointment to be properly assessed, they’ll tell you.
We’ll send you a link before your appointment. You click it and join, no account needed, no app to install. If you have any trouble connecting, call the clinic and we’ll help you get sorted.
We’ll let you know during or after the telehealth session and arrange an in-person appointment. A telehealth consultation is never wasted — your physio will still take a thorough history and give you useful guidance in the meantime.
Expert physiotherapy, no travel required. Book a telehealth session and leave with a clear assessment and a plan you can follow from home.
