Far North Physio provides physiotherapy for NDIS participants in Cairns. We work with self-managed and plan-managed participants to deliver physiotherapy that supports their individual goals, whether that’s improving mobility, building strength, managing pain, or increasing independence in daily activity.
If you’re a support coordinator or plan manager looking for a provider in Cairns, we’re happy to discuss how we can support your client.
NDIS physiotherapy uses funding from a participant’s NDIS plan to access physiotherapy services that support their disability-related goals. Physiotherapy can be funded under the Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing support categories, depending on the participant’s plan and goals.
NDIS physio at Far North Physio is the same high-quality assessment and treatment we provide to all patients. The difference is that the sessions are funded through your NDIS plan rather than private health insurance or out of pocket.
01
Review your NDIS plan to confirm you have funding under Improved Daily Living or Improved Health and Wellbeing. If you’re unsure, your support coordinator or plan manager can help clarify what’s available.
02
Get in touch with the clinic directly, or have your support coordinator contact us on your behalf. Let us know you’re an NDIS participant and we’ll confirm we can support your goals and arrange your first appointment.
03
We’ll take a thorough history, assess your current function, and work with you to understand your NDIS goals. From there, we develop an individual therapy plan aligned with your plan objectives.
04
We provide regular progress notes and reports as required for NDIS plan reviews. We keep your support coordinator informed and adjust your program as your goals or needs change.
We work with NDIS participants across a wide range of conditions and goals. Common areas we support include:
Far North Physio accepts NDIS participants under two management types:
If you self-manage your NDIS funding, you pay for your sessions and claim reimbursement from the NDIS portal. We provide invoices for you to submit.
If you have a plan manager, they handle the payment on your behalf. We invoice your plan manager directly.
Far North Physio accepts Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) referrals for both Gold and White card holders, with no gap fee. If you have a DVA Gold or White card and a GP referral, contact us with your card details and we’ll arrange your appointment from there.
Far North Physio is a Cairns-based physiotherapy clinic providing evidence-based care for NDIS participants, DVA clients, and the broader community across Far North Queensland.

Far North Physio is not a registered NDIS provider, but that doesn’t mean we can’t see you. We welcome self-managed and plan-managed participants. If your plan is self-managed, you pay for your session and claim reimbursement through the NDIS portal. If your plan is plan-managed, your plan manager handles payment on your behalf. The only participants we are unable to see are those on agency-managed (NDIA-managed) plans, as seeing these participants requires NDIS registration.
Physiotherapy is typically funded under the Improved Daily Living (Capacity Building) support category (07) or the Improved Health and Wellbeing (Capacity Building) category (08), depending on your plan and goals. Your support coordinator or plan manager can help you confirm which category applies.
You don’t need a GP referral to access physiotherapy as an NDIS participant. You do need to have physiotherapy funded in your NDIS plan. Contact us or have your support coordinator get in touch and we’ll work through the details.
In many cases, yes. NDIS telehealth physiotherapy is available for participants who are unable to attend the clinic in person. Contact us to discuss whether telehealth is appropriate for your goals and situation.
Contact the clinic directly, or have your support coordinator reach out on your behalf. We’ll confirm our availability, review your plan goals, and arrange your first appointment from there.
